This used to be a big problem whrn we had our laptop. Your computer has a certain time of battery life as in a certain amount of hours. When those hours are done there is no use for the battery anymore unless you plug in the cord which keeps your computer connected to electricty but when it is unplugged it immediatly shuts off. This is a problem with a simple solution. All you have to do is go buy another battery, but do not rely solely on the battery because that is how you lose your hours so fast. Whenever you can help it, use the cord so that you don't use the battery up. Therefore, your computer is charged and you still have lots of hours, if there is an emergency. Why does my dell laptop shutdown when it is unplugged?1. Try cleaning the battery contacts
