I used the guide on the Dell website-press F8 on start-up, load the Advanced Boot Options, select Repair Your Computer, etc. However, when the screen does come up after pressing F8, Repair Your Computer does not come up! You need to start tapping it as soon as you have pushed the main power button
The computer must also be in the completely OFF state before you do this action.
Did you make a recovery disc when you first got your laptop? if you did then put that into the drive and then reboot and on the BIOS screen press the F2 button to get to boot options and select the disc drive as the boot then it will load and your OS will be replaced with the system on first install. How do you go back to Factory Settings on a Windows 7 Dell Inspiron laptop?Dell seem to have more than one method so try pressing CTRL and F11 together during the dell logo display at start.
