Looking to buy a DELL Inspiron 15 just for personal use are the upgrades neccesary?

There are so many upgrade options, it is only for personal use..surfing the web mostly and possibly some pictures, music and word docs.Would buying it without all the upgrades be ok?? I have had a desktop Dell for 10 yrs now so would just like to have the mobility of a laptop.

Thanks in advance.Looking to buy a DELL Inspiron 15 just for personal use are the upgrades neccesary? What upgrades are you talking about?Looking to buy a DELL Inspiron 15 just for personal use are the upgrades neccesary? If it's just for personal use, you don't necessarily need every hardware upgrade. I would recommend you find a tech savvy friend who knows your computing habits well enough to shop with you and know exactly what you need without having you break the bank. Also, consider holding off until October 22nd to order your computer, as that is the release date of Windows 7, which is considerably more stable and better performing than Vista. I would not recommend sticking with XP if Dell offers it - Windows 7 is worth the learning curve if you haven't used a new computer in 10 years. Check to see if Dell isn't already offering your desired laptop with Windows 7 already. If it is, you won't need anything more than Windows 7 Home Premium. Also, if you're planning on working with Word docs, note that Office 2010 is set to release soon next year, but Office 2007 is perhaps the best iteration of the Office suite...until 2010 comes out - for which you may well be eligible for an upgrade discount. If you're a student, I've included below links to the official Microsoft student discounts for Windows 7 and Office 2007.
