A dress similar to this one. Help!?

Since everyone here has great fashion advice, I would ask here.



I'm hosting an evening gala. It will be held on an upscale Martha's Vineyard resort last week of August 2011.



I in-love with a dress I want to wear, but it's long and it's not practical; I must rather have a tea length or knee length version of it.

I love it, but it's too much for the type of event. I shorter version of that would be ideal. Have you seen something like it., but shorter?



Any other ideas? I'm 5'8", I wear a size 6 and I prefer dresses with straps. Ideas?



I also love the dress that the girl on "She's out of my league" wore at the airport. It's a zebra print with a red belt, but it is really really nice.

This one in the burgundy is very nice. I know its not Zebra but it is still animal.
Are the straps a big deal? I absolutely loved this one. It may be too flirty looking, but it doesn't help that she's walking around with her arms sticking straight up, which hopefully isn't your normal party posture:

Not quite the same but I thought it may suit the bill
Quite some time ago, I saw a dress really similar to that: white, with a bright blue flower on the skirt. I love the bold, breezy look of that dress... but couldnt find anything similar. You might try searching with "watercolor" "paint splash" keywords. Unfortunately, now the fall collections are coming out now so that may be why you cannot find anything like this.



For the zebra print, I came across this one. Dont know what silhouette you are going for (havent seen that movie), but this is pretty basic and probably would not work with a belt. But, here it is:
