Typo.
My interview is not until the 14th of October so I still got plenty time to prepare! But I wanna be prepared and know what's coming. Don't want to leave it til last minute!
So I have no idea what to wear.
I know that I should stand out enough to be noticed.
I've actually applied for a Casual Position in either Burwood or Homebush %26amp; the interview is held at The Sebel in Surry Hills just outside Central Station. So travelling there isn't hard for me at all.
But please if anyone knows anything please get back at me asap! %26amp; I need to know the latest not like 5 or 2 years ago!! Its 2011 people :D
Thank You! :) xxxOkay so I have a job interview for Cotton On within two weeks %26amp; I have no idea what to expect %26amp; wear! HELP!!?
Dress professionally ~ that's the easy part. Your clothes aren't going to get you the job though. Are you prepared to be interviewed?
A lot of companies do something they call "behavioral" interviews. They can be a little unnerving if you're not prepared for them. They have several people in on it, and each of them ask you a question while the others grade your response.
They ask things like;
"Tell me about a time when you had to adjust to a classmate鈥檚 or colleague鈥檚 working style in order to complete a project or achieve your objectives."
"What is your typical way of dealing with conflict? Give me an example.
Give me an example of a time when you were able to successfully communicate with another person even when that individual may not have personally liked you (or vice versa). How did you handle the situation? What obstacles or difficulties did you face? How did you deal with them?"
"Tell me about a difficult decision you've made in the last year.
Describe a situation where you have had to overcome a problem or obstacle in order to move forward with something. What did you do?
Tell me about a time when you had to make a decision without all the information you needed. How did you handle it? Why? Were you happy with the outcome?"
If you want to stand out from the crowd, then nail this part of the interview. Here's how you do it...
Remember the acronym "STAR." It stands for Situation or Task, the Action you took, and the Result. It's important to remember this because it keeps your answers concise. I've been an interviewer on several behavioral interviews, and it's amazing to see what people do during them. Those who are unprepared tend to ramble on and on, and often times never really answer the question. Others seem to panic and shut down. The candidates who have made the biggest impression were the ones who took a few seconds to think about the question, provided a brief rundown of the situation or task, got right to the point of what their actions were, and gave a concise summary of the results of their actions.
The next thing you need to do is to mentally prepare. Google "Behavioral Interview Questions" and look at the kinds of questions you could be asked. Then take some time to think about some actual situations you have faced on the job or in school, and use the STAR method to describe them. Write these things in a notebook and study them for the next 2 weeks. Be flexible. Even if you aren't asked a question that you prepared for, you can still apply your answer to other questions you didn't prepare for.
Don't panic over this. The purpose of this kind of interview is for the employer to get a good feel for the kind of person you are. They hope to be able to predict what kind of employee you would be by examining your past performances.
Good luck!

I got one as well! except I decided to do the 7th of October. From what i've heard from friends who've applied in previous years is that its really relaxed and casual. You don't want to be rocking up in a suit or anything.
Just be yourself and be prepared!.
