How do I reset my Dell Battery Meter?
I just got a new battery for my Dell Latitude D830, its running Windows Vista. I charged the new battery as instructed, and now the meter is inaccurate. The computer will randomly cut off at 47% battery without giving any warning.How do I reset my Dell Battery Meter?You could try charging the battery fully, then allowing it to discharge until it dies. Then charge the battery again with the computer off until it fully charges. Other than that, there is no other way. How do you go back to Factory Settings on a Windows 7 Dell Inspiron laptop?
I am giving my laptop to a relative and so really want to restore it back to factory settings. I used the guide on the Dell website-press F8 on start-up, load the Advanced Boot Options, select Repair Your Computer, etc. However, when the screen does come up after pressing F8, Repair Your Computer does not come up! I really need help ASAP as I was hoping to give it as a Christmas present. Another option you have is to use the restore CD/DVD that might have come with your PC; if you don't have the disk, then I guess you are scr!@ed

You need to start tapping it as soon as you have pushed the main power button
The computer must also be in the completely OFF state before you do this action.
Did you make a recovery disc when you first got your laptop? if you did then put that into the drive and then reboot and on the BIOS screen press the F2 button to get to boot options and select the disc drive as the boot then it will load and your OS will be replaced with the system on first install.How do you go back to Factory Settings on a Windows 7 Dell Inspiron laptop?Dell seem to have more than one method so try pressing CTRL and F11 together during the dell logo display at start.

How do I connect my Dell Inspiron 1750 laptop to my Panasonic Plasma TV?
My laptop only has a VGA output and my Plasma only has the standard RCA, Component, and HDMI inputs. Is there any way to conntect my Dell Laptop to my Panasonic Plasma TV? Any information that you can provide will be greatly appreciated. If you really want a good computer have one built for you at a local computer shop.
Or better yet buy a barebones system and build it yourself. You will learn more doing that than a year at school. After booting it up and installing the operating system you can be proud that it is yours and you actually built it yourself. If you need some help you can always ask and learn.

You can pick your operating system (and get a genuine OEM operating system disk that you can actually use). Also the shop will not install any of the "try me buy me" applications that expire in 30 days and constantly ask you to update.
You can tell the tech what you want to use your computer for and they know which parts to install that actually work without filing at the end of the warrantly period.
When you have a problem the techs there will actually be able to help you. Since they (or you) built it they(or you) want it to work better than any other computer made overseas.
My son who works in computers would not even interview for a job at Dell because he has had bad experience with their products.
Some of their equipment can only be replaced with dell replacements. They order parts that only fit Dell computers. There support is not in this country and hard to deal with.
Dell computers do work though so can't dismiss them entirely.

You can however boost your battery life by configuring your profile and using cool and quiet from AMD to keep your processor running slower. The slower it operates, the less power it takes.
To adjust your hardware power profile, go to your control panel, select power options and decrease shutdown times for monitor, hard drives, etc.
You may or may not want to do this, but that is an option.
An alternative would be to get a backup battery and carry it with you. A lot of laptop users who need it for an extended period of time use this.

The 6 cell gets u about 3 hours, and there is a 9 cell which i got which gives me about 4 hours gaming and around 6-7 hours just messing about in windows, and no the first charge doesnt make any difference, lithium ion has no memory effect, hope this helps
